EUFAULA, Ala. (TCN) -- A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a teenager who was found shot, burned, and dismembered in May. Markavious Rumph, 18, was reported missing by his family on May 7 after he was last seen getting into a vehicle at a gas station. Following a multiday search led by family members and volunteers, Rumph’s remains were found on Mother’s Day, May 11, in a forested area. He had been shot, dismembered, and set on fire. The victim’s mother, Yolanda Wynn, said that police did not assist in the search. WTVM reports that early on in the investigation following the discovery of the remains, Josiah McKinney was interviewed and named as a suspect. The remains found were confirmed to be Rumph’s on May 29, and the same day, McKinney was arrested and charged with murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. According to Eufaula Police Chief Danny Christ, more arrests are forthcoming. Rumph had recently gotten his G.E.D. and planned to attend welding school. According to WTVM, Wynn said, “The brick that was in my chest and the knife that was in my back came off me. Everything got light, so I knew, I wanted to find him, I didn’t want him just out there. I got closure then,” after Rumph’s remains were found.WTVM reports police have knowledge of a potential motive but are not releasing information on it until additional evidence is collected and more people are interviewed.MORE: Missing teen found shot, dismembered, set on fire in Alabama woods — True Crime News
