NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas Full Episode - Aug. 12

Tonight: Catastrophic floods are overwhelming Indiana communities. Rescuers are going house to house saving people and pets. Plus, two soldiers are dead after the military helicopter they were in crashed into a field in Texas, northwest of Austin. It's unclear what caused the Apache chopper, based at Fort Hood, to go down Wednesday afternoon. The crash also sparked a large fire, forcing some evacuations. And a controversial move by ICE after the agency purchased gloves that deliver shocks to non-compliant suspects. ICE said the gloves will help avoid deadly confrontations while immigrant advocates are raising concerns. Plus, investigators in Georgia are asking the public for help finding a person they say intentionally set a home in Lawrenceville on fire with six people inside. Ring video obtained by our Atlanta affiliate WXIA appears to show the moments someone outside the house starts the fire. And Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White is defending her team and pushing back on criticism over her reaction to a flagrant foul on Sophie Cunningham. And finally, the moon passed directly in front of the sun Wednesday, briefly turning day into twilight as crowds from Iceland to Spain looked up in awe at the rare celestial spectacle. 00:00 Intro 02:55 Midwest flash flood emergency triggers rescues 05:06 Two killed in military helicopter crash in Texas 06:40 Desperate search for earthquake survivors 08:31 ICE purchases ‘zap gloves’ to use on non-compliant suspects 10:25 Ring video shows moments person appears to set fire to home 12:00 Fever coach Stephanie White fires back at critics after controversial foul 14:50 Once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse sweeps across Europe For more context and news coverage of the most important stories of our day, click here: https://www.nbcnews.com » Subscribe to NBC News: http://nbcnews.to/SubscribeToNBC » Subscribe to Here's the Scoop podcast: https://www.nbcnews.com/heres-the-scoop-daily-podcast » NBC News App: https://apps.nbcnews.com/mobile » Breaking News Alerts: https://link.nbcnews.com/join/5 j/breaking-news-signup?cid=sm_npd_nn_yt_bn-clip_190621 » Visit NBCNews.Com: http://nbcnews.to/ReadNBC » Find NBC News on Facebook: http://nbcnews.to/LikeNBC » Follow NBC News on Twitter: http://nbcnews.to/FollowNBC » Follow NBC News on Instagram: http://nbcnews.to/InstaNBC #BreakingNews #News #Politics
