HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) -- A 28-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly causing a car crash and trying to steal the medical helicopter that responded to the scene. On June 19, Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash and spoke to a couple who had been driving in their sedan when it was struck by a pickup truck that lost control before driving into the woods and rolling over, WTSP reports. The couple was reportedly seriously injured in the accident, and authorities shut down the highway to make room for a medical helicopter to land so the couple could be transported to a hospital to be treated. Once the helicopter landed, the pickup truck’s driver, Riley Ferrer, ran out and allegedly tried to steal the helicopter.Ferrer allegedly refused to cooperate with law enforcement despite several commands to do so and was reportedly behaving irrationally, according to WTSP. He allegedly told authorities that he had caused the crash because he saw the Antichrist.WTSP reports Ferrer is scheduled to appear in court on July 14. A bond of $3,000 was set for three counts of resisting arrest, and he is being held without bond for burglary of an occupied conveyance.MORE: Chicago man arrested for allegedly stealing ambulance, leading police on 80-mile chase — True Crime NewsAtlanta man in ‘extreme mode’ reportedly hijacks bus and kills 1 passenger — True Crime News
